Blog Subscriptions Bring More Readers
Although RSS is supposed to be the latest and greatest spam proof way to convey a message to your readers, not everyone is used to this new medium yet. You may have a very interesting blog and many readers who would like to receive updates, however they just simply don’t know what RSS is or want to bother with it.
Everyone has email; Heck, even my grandfather is using email, but if you were to ask him what RSS feeds he subscribes to, he’ll just look at you funny. People have trouble with change and getting used to new concepts, so why not make it easier for them to visit your website?
Adding an email subscription field (as can be seen on the top of every page on CyberWyre) for users to receive blog updates via email is a great way to increase page views. More page views = more income. Remember, it’s just a numbers game.
How To Add a Blog Subscription Field to Your Site
Adding a subscription field to your site is made surprisingly easy by Zookoda, a company which specifically provides blog/website email subscription services. Adding an email subscription form to your site is as easy as inserting one line of JavaScript, just as you did with AdSense.
On CyberWyre I was using Zookoda’s service for some time however recently switched to a self-hosted solution titled Email Notification written by Brian Groce. It is an excellent WordPress plug-in which contains all of the features which I was using within Zookada and allows me to access it from my WordPress control panel which I find much more convenient. This plug-in automatically sends updates to all subscribers when a new article is published to the site.
In SummaryÂ
Adding a subscription field to CyberWyre has definitely helped to increase page views and I would highly recommend adding one to your site as well. Zookoda provides an excellent service which you can configure on your site within a few minutes, however if you want to have greater control over your email subscriptions, I would recommend trying out one of the many mailing list management WordPress plug-ins such as the one written by Brian Groce.
Check them out, and don’t forget to subscribe to CyberWyre for your latest in blogging advice!
Nice idea but I can’t access the zookada.com site.
I hesitate to add a email list because dont most of the poeple reading use RSS anyway?
Sean,
That’s my exact point.
You want to target as many people as you can, right? Then why cut out those people who want to subscribe via email? By removing the option to sign up for email subscriptions you are possibly cutting out half of your readers. Not everyone uses or likes RSS and using news readers.
Give them the option, and let them decide.
The more people the better. Advertising should be an all points thing. I use email, RSS, forums, blog comments, and even print flyers, and newspaper ads.

it’s zookoda.com, not zookada.com.
i have already become member of zookoda, my email subscription is active but i cant deliver because the broadcasting aprovement was taking a long time.
ps:
zookoda.com warn me:
i have been member for few days but i can’t schedule broadcast even now. (dec 17)
Zookoda has been working great for me! I love the way you can quickly select from their templates or create your own custom look!
Buchin…I had to contact their support a few times to get the broadcast feature activated. Try again. Once you get through that hurdle the tool works great!
zookada.com?
There are many men in that region of the country who still believe that women are inferior and that it’s okay for men to hit women.
