and - this is a great blog entry (found on Digg). Amazing to pay $50 per click! But it’s for lawyers - so it figures…

what a great way to get people to click on your adwords ads that just so happen to also be the highest paying ones!

Make a story about them. Put up some bogus content on your site that will make google generate ads containing those high-paying adwords, and describe the highest paying keywords with a link to your page with the ads!

Now, people will go to the page, and click the links, and you get huge money.

BTW… the reason why these terms pay so much is because no one clicks on ads with these terms. For these folks to get one customer to their site is a big freakin’ deal, so they pay alot.

I’m curious how you determined these were the highest paying. The tool you reference seems to ask for a keyword and suggests alternates, but it doesn’t give you any type of absolute ranking.

For example, if you type in mesothelioma, you can find many high paying keywords, but there may be other terms that actually rank higher if you picked a different starting point such as “Ferrari dealerships”.

Anyway, congrats on getting picked up by Boing Boing.. I’m sure that helps.

Of course, using the AdWords tool doesn’t really give you an accurate CPC scale. This is a new market estimate, not an established one. Many people are paying for top positions on the above keywords for quite a bit less than is listed. For Google, it’s all in the CTR and QS.

[…] Nachdem es im vorletzten Teil der Serie darum ging, wie man sich die Einblendungen, die man von Google bekommt etwas zurecht rücken kann bekam ich zwei Emails, mit fast demselben Inhalt (ich denke / hoffe allerdings nicht von derselben Person). Die Fragen richteten sich danach was auf welche Stichwörter man sich denn nun spezialisieren sollte damit es wirklich klappt mit dem AdSense-Goldbrunnen. Dazu gabs übrigens gestern einen interessanten Link bei BoingBoing, der die bestbezahlten Google-Keywords aufzeigt. Auch wenn es schwer bis unmöglich werden dürfte mit solchen Stichwörtern anständige CTR zu erreichen einen Blick wert ist es auf jeden Fall. Um die am teuersten bezahlten Keywords soll es in diesem Teil auch weniger gehen. Vielmehr möchte ich ein paar Möglichkeiten diskutieren, wie man zumindest mal Vergleiche ziehen kann, welche Stichwörter mehr bringen als andere. Am Anfang sollte eine realistische Einschätzung stehen, dabei macht es wohl wenig Sinn sich auf Keywords wie Tokio Hotel oder Britney Spears zu spezialisieren einfach weil es schon Millionen anderer Seiten gibt, die das tun und da muss man sich nun wirklich nicht unbedingt noch Kopfschmerzen von holen. Wer bei Google selbst einmal nach Listen mit hochdotierten AdSensekeywords gesucht hat wird mir zustimmen, dass diese etwas rar gesät sind. Zudem sind die Leute in den einschlägigen Foren und Diskussionsrunden auch nicht gerade aufgeschlossen, was die Stichwortoptimierung angeht - verständlicher Weise allerdings. Ab und an findet man dann doch immer mal wieder ein paar Hinweise. Hier sind ein paar Möglichkeiten, mit denen man sich auf die Suche nach besserbezahlten Keywords machen kann. […]

This is true! For one of my sites which I target for expensive keywords, the click through is much lower as compared to a less expensive keyword but has higher popularity.

This led to me to conclude that people click on ads based on how relevant the topic is to them. Most expensive keywords are very niche. For example, there are less people in this world that suffers from Mesothelioma than Acne problems thus by default your click through rate for Mesothelioma will be lower than Acne… what do you think? I may me wrong!

I believe the bid value of these keywords are acurate as I have seen several other keyword lists and many of the bid amounts are close.
